An emerging species on the Place Publique du Sable-Gris

Interactive video projections. Presented in 2024 as part of the performance cycle Les caresses qui nous unissent, with Fonderie Darling. Camera : Lagueux + L’Ecuyer et Vjosana Shkurti

On August 8, 2024, we placed part of the “herd”—three illuminated plastic creatures and their digital companions—in the Place Publique du Sable-Gris, where they were activated by the sound of the audience on the walls of our inflatable dome. While waiting for nightfall, we offered a workshop on making mini creatures, which participants could color and integrate into the surrounding nature. In the end, the interactive video projections could not be presented in the dome due to rain, and we moved the activities inside the Fonderie Darling.

We documented the projections in the dome a little later, while waiting for the next public appearance…

Initiated in 2021, the Espèce en voie d’apparition (Emerging Species) project consists of integrating, documenting, and caring for a series of sculptures created from recycled plastic bottles, like a kind of herd that is moved around the territory to feed on encounters and landscapes. We designed this project with the intention of reusing the remains of a previous work, which led us to develop a first thermoformed prototype, then about twenty of our “creatures” that we have since deployed in trees, parks, and structures as opportunities arise. To reach inaccessible areas, we developed a digital 3D animated version of the herd, which we integrate into augmented reality, virtual reality, or video projections.
